Brids of prey,of reptors,are emong many peoples favorite birds because they are oftem easy to spot and many.aspecially vultures and eagles,evake a feeling of majesty and power,like the species covered in the up in the air section.many spend a greate deal of time soaring and pass over a variaty of habitats as they do so.

However,most heve a preferred anvironment in which to hunt.for example.the african fish eagle requires open areas of water and the small(african) black-scouldered kite is a brids of open areas and grassland.indentification of some species is straightforward,while others,such as the heariers and some brown eagles,can be more problematic.

To help yau to make a positive identification,in-flight photographs heve therefore also been included.

Grassland and open areas.

A multitude of grasses in the rift valley but from a very basic ecological prespective,it is useful to consider grasslands as short or long,simply because birds either live and feed in long grass short grass.
